Natural deodorant review

Natural deodorant review

Under $8 is low

$9 – $13 is mid-range

Above $13 is high

Most price ranges are from Canadian amazon and may be different for other countries or directly on the product website.

Some ingredients are always written only with a chemical name and often that is good reason to pause and investigate. For example the ingredient “Polyglyceryl-3 Caprate” made me stop and look into any potential issues. Recently a large document summarizing research on all the currently used polyglyceryl’s was completed and published titled “Safety Assessment of Polyglyceryl Fatty Acid Esters as Used in Cosmetics” you can read the full document by clicking on the link.

I have carefully investigated ingredients that appear questionable before asking people to try out any of the deodorants and providing their feedback.

Any potential irritants have been linked to a source of further information with the exception of fragrance simply because it is too vague and may turn out to simply be essential oils given the market these products are in.

Most of these deodorants will last 1 – 3 months depending on how heavily you apply the product, the size of the product, and its formulation.

These deodorants did not make the cut based on what problematic ingredients were present. Antibacterial ingredients like Triclosan would automatically take them off the list along with any version of alum/aluminium. Additionally if there were too many skin irritants in a formulation that also meant it did not make it to human reviewers for this piece.

Any version of aluminium has the potential for the lymph nodes in the armpit to pick up and store the mineral locally or elsewhere in the body. Given the association between neuronal death along with mutagenic qualities I classified it as a very high risk ingredient considering the long term exposure like regular use of deodorants and antiperspirants has.
