The Full Story
My mission is to create a realistic tool that can be used by anyone to hybridize
pharmaceutical and natural modalities safely and effectively.
With the increasing challenge of antibiotic and antiviral resistance more potent
pharmaceuticals keep getting developed. And with that comes more potent side effects.
The only way forward is to make the two systems work together.
The QRDS (see below) allows this to be done without thousands of hours in training.
As a child, Porche Berry’s TV diet included programs on nutrition and biology.
Seeing pharmaceutical drugs fail repeatedly to treat the long-term health problems of family and friends spurred an early interest in a holistic approach to health.
That interest deepened after she became a mother to a child who reacted negatively to pharmaceuticals.
During research to help her child, Berry discovered that she had a knack for translating technical topics into lay language. She hopes to help people take command of their own health through her books and website.
The Quick Reference Data Sheet
A "Quick Reference Data Sheet" is something I developed for myself initially and then applied to my book. The intention was like an expanded flash card. I wanted it to contain all of the most important information I would need when looking at any herb, essential oil, or other natural remedy. In each one you will find 6 main elements;
The Latin name.
The biologically active constituents that are not ubiquitous. For example water and carbon are excluded because they can be found in every fresh herb.
The properties under their technical names.
Basic uses, divided by usage type, eg topical vs ingestion. Not an exhaustive list however.
Cautions including drug interactions and other safety info.
And any immediate first aid information that may be needed.
QRDS are built using a combination of textbooks, databases, and individual studies.
You can gain access to all the essential oil QRDS through The Oil Apothecary book.
